Random Stupid Stuff

While not a product per se, this random stupid moment caught in time that was sent in by a reader (not a participant!) deserves a special mention. His comments sum up the image nicely:

“Not really sure which is the more stunning move. A live surge protector in the pool, or thinking two flip flops make a good float for it.”

Definitely not American idiots, confirmed by the type of electrical outlet, but I picture this event being reenacted somewhere in the Deep South this summer. Or Texas.

Having just taken my kids up to the snow this week, enjoying some fun sledding and a nice, freezing-cold powdered snow fight at a secluded stop off the highway, I am convinced that no parent was involved in the making of this snowsuit.

First of all, the poor kid looks like a complete dork. The light blue “snowsuit” hardly matches the brown boots. And what the hëll is that thing dangling from the hood?! Looks like he has a pënìš growing out of the back of his head.

What cruel parent would subject their child to this torture? As it’s knitted, it wouldn’t keep out the wind. Also, being knit, it wouldn’t keep out the wet from the snow, so it can hardly be considered a “snowsuit”. It would actually trap the moisture into the garment, allowing snow and ice to rapidly build up. Their child would probably freeze to death in about 15 minutes.

Assuming the Friar Tuck haircut doesn’t make him die from shame first.

Speaking of fugly clown sweaters, this entire clown-themed ensemble is horrific at best.

Sometimes I really wonder about what drugs the average fashion designer is on. Makes even the rejects on Project Runway look like top-notch talent.

First of all, this is old news, ancient by Internet standards. Wil doesn’t need to receive a bunch of emails that tell him that he looks like an idiot in the clown sweater — he already knows. Listening, Sean?

The photo was part of a project where some gal named Renee Walker decided to take a series of photos of different people wearing the sweater that she had purchased from a Salvation Army shop in San Francisco for $3.75 in 1996. According to Renee, the sweater is labeled “Handmade by l’americaine”. This was snapped at a party a few years ago.

Great idea for a phlog, but I still can’t believe how truly fugly that sweater is. I really, really hope “l’americaine” is still knitting as his or her products could keep this blog busy for many years to come.

Oh, and major props and kudos to Wil for knowingly agreeing to pose for a camera (held by Wil’s friend Loren Cox) while wearing this monstrosity. His befuddled expression is beyond priceless.

Sometimes a picture says a thousand words. Someone was apparently asleep at the marketing wheel at Norway’s mobile communication giant, Telenor.

As a side note, this comes from the same marketing department that has changed the company logo from the swirl pictured at the top of the CD to something that looks exactly like a boat propeller (especially when rotated in 3D during television commercials).

Not well received by the Norwegian public (despite its trendier, more modern look), the change is an effort to shed the old government image now that Telenor’s gone private sector.

Telenor insists that it is not a propeller, “clarifying” the logo by making it now rotate in the opposite direction, a move now pìššìng off the local boating industry.
